Thriving Kids: Recognising the Power of Peer Support.
The Autism Community Network (ACN) welcomes the Federal Government’s announcement of the Thriving Kids initiative by Minister for Health, the Hon. Mark Butler MP.
Since 2011, ACN has been dedicated to providing peer-to-peer support for individuals with autism and their families. We know first-hand that peer support and early intervention are essential, particularly for young children with intellectual or developmental delays.
Last week, The Leader published our media release as an opinion piece, highlighting the importance of community-based supports like ours. You can read it here: Leader article.
We welcome this national focus on children’s wellbeing and stand ready to contribute our experience and insights as Thriving Kids takes shape.
Together, with the support of families, professionals, and government, we can ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.
